The Issue

I’m shocked to be creating this petition holding Which? to account for misconduct but the organisation is behaving disgracefully and taking advantage of its good reputation to act with impunity.

You can watch a YouTube video (19 mins approx.) detailing the misconduct I experienced with Which? by clicking on this link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNgnWCP5LYI. Alternatively, read on for a summary of events.

The problems began when, looking for advice on a tenancy matter, I signed up to Which? Legal and found myself speaking with advisers who lacked the appropriate knowledge and provided me with incorrect legal advice.

When filing a complaint with Which? about the issues I’d experienced, the organisation refused to uphold my complaint, denied providing incorrect advice and simply stated certain areas of the advice could have been clearer. Which? supplied me with recordings of my calls with its legal advisers and, given the organisation had access to the errors made on those calls, I struggled to understand why it was refusing to be accountable.

Meanwhile, I'd turned to Shelter, the housing charity, who clarified my options and it became clear Which? Legal had misinformed me regarding the following two aspects of making a County Court claim:

1.     Advising me I couldn’t submit my case in the small claims track – Shelter informed me this was an option.

2.     Stating I could submit a compensation claim up to the value of £1,000 – Shelter advised me it was up to £10,000.

Writing to the Head of Legal Operations at Which? Legal, I asked him to explain the discrepancy between the Which? Legal and Shelter advice but he was unwilling to acknowledge his advisers had made errors. He even went as far as to claim the two lots of advice were not at odds. I also made Which? CEO, Anabel Hoult, aware of the issues I was experiencing with her legal service but she showed no interest in taking action.

After posting a negative review about Which? Legal on Trustpilot, Which? changed the Trustpilot page name – making the page extremely difficult for the public to find (I share in detail about this in my video).

Given Which? has demonstrated it’s unwilling to hold itself to account, this petition is calling on Anabel Hoult to employ the company Second Sight to carry out an independent investigation into the misconduct I experienced.

I’d be hugely grateful if you can sign/share my petition and, hopefully, we can get Which? back in alignment with its values.

Thank you!
