This is important because many trainers use cruel training methods such as live baiting. Live baiting is the practice of strapping live animals such as piglets , possums and rabbits to a lure that is then propelled around a race track to train the greyhounds, if the animal is not already dead at the end of the race, the greyhound maliciously devoures the poor defenceless animal. The greyhounds also have to deal with the following things: Being fed illicit performance inhancing drugs and at the end of their career, the trainers do not bother to find them homes but kill them inhumanely. The non-transparency in the greyhound racing industry means that there may be many more inhumane acts of cruelty in this industry that we are unaware of.
