Dental Practices across Australia are facing potential forced closure in the coming weeks due to a global shortage of medical grade face masks.  Dental Practices providing an essential health service to our community cannot continue to practice without appropriate PPE and in the wake of COVID-19 Dental Suppliers have exhausted their stores with no or limited stock available. The very nature of dental procedures create a high aerosol, high infection risk environment - Dental Practices simply cannot operate safely without appropriate PPE. 

With no guarantee of supply in the future, the impact is significant and cannot be ignored.  Please help us save our essential dental service in Australia.  These are small businesses, employing caring professionals, with little reserve in the bank - They will not survive forced closures due to a lack of PPE.  In addition to this our community can not be adequately cared for in a dental emergency if they are relying solely on our General Practitioner and Hospital Emergency Services.

We are asking the Government to safeguard our Dental Service by extending the supply of stockpiled medical PPE to Dental Practices across Australia.  In addition to this, provide further education to the community regarding the futile nature of wearing medical masks when attempting to protect themselves from COVID-19.
