A new proposal by Major League Baseball would eliminate approximately 42 minor leagues teams.  Included in this proposal is the elimination of our area's 10 minor league teams in the Appalachian League, a Advanced Rookie League of Minor League Baseball.

The cities affected would be:  Kingsport, TN, Johnson City, TN, Bristol, VA, Greeneville, TN, Elizabethton, TN, Danville, VA, Princeton, WV, Bluefield, VA, Pulaski, VA and Burlington, NC.

Minor league baseball in these cities impact local economies and provide a safe place for family entertainment.  Citizens of these cities have supported these teams for decades and for many of them it is a summer long passion year after year.
