This petition is to seek justice and for the action taken by the officers involved in the death of George Floyd. It is also a call for accountability and new training by the Minneapolis Police Department.

By signing this petition, I am asking that the officers involved be arrested and prosecuted before a jury of their peers for excessive use of force under MPD Policy 5-305 "Use of Force" resulting in death, violating MPD Policy 5-303, the "Duty to Intervene",  MPD Policy 5-311 "Use of Neck Restraints and Choke Holds", and MPD Policy 9-110 (G) "Prisoner Control, Safety and Transportation"

Additionally, I am asking that the Minneapolis Police Department take accountability by instituting new protocols for training in de-escalation tactics, arrest/detainment safety, non-lethal submission training, and partner accountability. This would require all officers to take immediate training, and continue with bi-annual or quarterly ongoing education, and would be a requirement to maintain "active" status as a police officer.

In Addition, I would like to see the MPD Policy 5-311 "Use of Neck Restraints and Choke Holds" revised to PROHIBIT the use of ANY neck restraint method on an individual who is already in handcuffs, wrist restraints, or other movement restrictive device, or who is already reasonably under control.
