We the students of the Central University of Rajasthan thoroughly condemn the ban (from hostel) of four students (Balakrishnan Kumawat, Prabhanshu Kajla, Mukesh Kharwal and Raghuveer Singh) for allegedly breaking a glass door during a protest against the gender inequality, removal of bio-metric (which was mandatory for only girls), moral policing, basic water and sanitation facility, 24*7 canteen, security and 24*7 library for both girls and boys students. Three students out of four are passed out while current student Balakrishan Kumawat is ban from Hostel admission.

We strongly believe that this act of banning from Hostel is nothing but an act of revenge by University administration against these students, who, along with other protesters, have consistently questioned the dictatorship of university administration. As a result of their efforts, the bio-metric was removed, night canteen is started (till 2 AM only), and library time is extended for girls students also (on condition of weekly permission from HOD). It is for questioning the gender inequality and basic facility at university that university administration sought revenge against the students and rusticated them to silence all dissenting and questioning voices on campus.

University administration has clearly demonstrated not just a complete disregard for democratic modes of functioning, but also the desire to not only callously ignore but actively propagate moral policing and inequality on campus.

We are angered by the inertia, complicity and negligence shown by the rest of the university bodies/societies/committees, which has not shown the slightest hint of any opposition to the university administration’s fascist and gender biased mode of operation on campus. We also question the silence (until recently) on the part of the teachers and alumni who should have stepped up with full-fledged and public support for the students in question, and should have addressed the issues that led to this in a far more serious and engaged manner.
We are deeply disturbed by the actions of the university administration, and at the kind of place that CURAJ, as an educational institution, is turning into – one where gender inequality, moral policing, food discrimination practices are part of the daily functioning of the institution, one where democratic action is punished at every turn, one where the university administration gets away with ban on the protesting students, one where a widespread public demand to dissolve all kind of gender inequality, moral policing, food discrimination by students seems to have had no effect.
As students of CENTRAL UNIVERSITY OF RAJASTHAN we demanding the immediate suspension of the ban from hostel orders taken in account of protest happened in October 2018.
