Increasing the maximum age limit for applying CSIR-Junior research fellowship to 30 years

Increasing the maximum age limit for applying CSIR-Junior research fellowship to 30 years
The Issue
It is very unfortunate that there exist two different upper age limit for junior research fellowship (JRF) for UGC and CSIR. The age limit of UGC is 30 years but CSIR is 28 years. Since CSIR-JRF fellowship exam is intended to select talented candidates for doing scientific research the maximum age limit of 28 years is very unfair. We know that our country is growing to one of the developed nations and for achieving this objective the quality of scientific research along with talented young researchers is very much essential.
The upper age limit of 28 years for applying CSIR-JRF is very unfair due to following reasons:
- Many of the talented and passionate researchers leave scientific research and end up in private sector jobs after 28 years since they can't apply for JRF anymore.
- Candidates who are genuinely interested in research career leave India and do research and get settled in foreign countries since they cant apply for JRF after 28 years in India.
- Some of the candidates prepare for CSIR exam after trying other government exams or working in private sector. Their chances of applying to JRF become very limited due to this age limit.
We request the concerned authority to take necessary action to make the age limit for CSIR JRF as 30 years which helps in attracting more talented candidates to scientific research which definitely increases the quality of research and contribute to the development of our country
