Due to ongoing farmers agitation, Government has suspended the 4G internet in the many areas of North India especially Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. The arbitrary decision by Ministry of Home Affairs, to restrict the internet speed to 2G  is violative of Articles 14 (Right to Equality), 19 (Freedom of Speech), 21 (Right to Life) and 21A (Right to Education) of the Indian Constitution.

Kerala High Court had declared the internet to be a fundamental right. Adding to this, the international law has considered internet shutdowns to be modern means of restricting Freedom of Speech and Expression. 

Government wants to suppress the voice of Kisan and Naujavan by putting restrictions on 4G internet and harrassing them by limiting communication in Rural India as well. These restrictions have adverse affect on students, educated unemployed and working class in those areas. 

Governments have various modes of communication through which they can counter fake news and misinformation if they really want to. It is very important for responsible citizens to provide accurate reports. In absence of internet service, risk of violence is much higher without instruments needed to tackle them.  Shutting down Internet exposes their intention of shutting all voices against them.

Restoring 4G internet is need of the hour, irrespective of their stance on Farm Bills.
