Anonymous x started this petition to Ministry of Foreign Affairs Czech Republic, and

This petition is to bring to notice the hurdles of Indian students, researchers, employees who have gotten their jobs in academia and otherwise in the Czech Republic. Also to highlight the plight of family reunion, to stay away from near ones during and post covid separated by borders.

In light of the second wave of the Covid 19 in India, the Czech embassy in India have had stopped it's activities since late April 2021 till date. The situation in India has much improved since then and many other EU nations (e.g. Germany, Netherlands, France, Spain, Belgium,  Austria, Slovakia, Croatia, almost all of EU) has already allowed essential travel by now. But essential travel from India (related to researchers, job employees, and family reunion of non EU members) continues to be banned by Czechia. Allmost all of us have our job contracts and hosting agreements for research positions in hand for over four/five months (with our careers at stake at this point). This uncertainty and delay has caused enormous amount of emotional, psychological and otherwise financial turmoil amongst many.

The Czech Republic first allowed solely the residence permit holders (with Biometric Cards) on 11th July and then opened the Czech Embassy in India only "partially" on the 2nd August 2021, for "the purpose of study at an accredited university". Although at the same time much confusion is created as: (1) the embassy says all visas approved before 2nd Aug 2021 are not permitted to enter Czech Rep (so what about all the people who waited patiently with stamped visas since March end/ early April who couldn't travel so far due to ban)? And (2) the embassy accepts only 'student mode visa' but denies visa appointments for any PhD student with a taxable fellowship applying for Researcher visa, (3) Visas approved or to be given for purposes of Post Doctorate Research, Job employment and Family reunion stays banned still.

This is a sincere and kind request to please re-open the Czech embassy in India to start proceedings for new visas related to the above mentioned category. Most outgoing Indian candidates amongst this category are already fully vaccinated. We kindly request you to permit essential travel for this category at the earliest and help us with our current situation related to our careers.
