“I am at the airport, firing is happening. We are asked to leave the airport. I could not enter."

My friend is stranded in Kabul. This was his voice note today morning when I checked upon him. He is stuck in Kabul while Afghanistan is being taken over. There is fear, chaos, and uncertainty all around him.

He knows at least 5 more Indians stranded with him but there are definitely more. We have been anxious, waiting to hear from him and sighing with relief at every message he sends.

The banks have collapsed, they have lost all their money. The last we spoke, he said "Taliban is just a kilometer away".

They have already written to the embassy through email but have not heard back.

Let us ensure that none of our citizens feel abandoned in this crisis. We want our friend back, we want all the Indian citizens back home, safe and sound.

It is time that the Indian government acts and ensures the following -
- The embassy should immediately get in touch with stranded citizens
- Immediate arrangement of evacuation flights immediately
- Ensuring those stranded in Afghanistan of their safety and updating their families

Please help my voice reach the Ministry of External Affairs. Please help my friend return home to his family.

I wish I had the power to just bring him back right now, to be next to him to ensure his safety. I am helpless, and I need our fellow citizens to help us.
