Hi Everyone! A quick update ... The sibling black bears, Jordan and Athena, were fitted with radio collars and released into the bush last June. The last transmissions were late November for one bear and late December for the other, both near their release site about 50 kilometres from Port Hardy. “Staff believe the bears have gone into hibernation,” communications officer Brennan Clarke said for the province. “No signals would transmit from the den as radio collars need a clear view of the sky to transmit. This is the likely reason transmissions have stopped.” I will continue to post updates as I receive them!
