Stop Ken-Betwa river linking project

The Issue

The Ken-Betwa river linking project submerges a very large area(roughly 100sq-kms) of pristine forests of the Panna Tiger Reserve and leaves many animals homeless. Panna Tiger Reserve is home to many wild animals which includes the majestic tiger and many other priceless living creatures. It shall be our duty to protect these forests for our survival. Article 48A of our Indian Constitution(Directive Principles of State Policy) states that, "The State shall endeavour to protect and improve the environment and to safeguard the forests and wild life of the country". We also understand the water problems faced by the people of that area. We urge the concerned authorities to take a look at this issue once again and come out with an alternative plan which doesn't harm the forests and the wildlife.
