Education rights: Girls should not have to choose between faith and education.

The Issue

This isn't what we as India should stand for. India is a country that should represent religious diversity, that is tolerant or at least that's what we are spoon fed in our schools and university. But right now, Karnataka government is denying girls their right to education because of their religious expression. Hijab is a sacred symbol between a person and their faith and the reasons for wearing a hijab should not be judged by or interfered in between by any person or government because it violates a person's right to religious expression. It is blatantly unconstitutional.

The constitution says that we cannot DENY anyone the opportunity based on CASTE, SEX, GENDER AND RELIGION. And by doing this Karnataka government is blatantly violating fundamental constitution rights and no one is doing anything. This is also against feminism as they are taking away a woman's right to choose how she dresses, how she represents her faith and her beliefs.

And so, I'm starting this petition to urge the karnataka government to stop this violation of rights, to stop this Islamophobia, to stop this sexism. And I'm urging you to sign this petition and make a difference. To stand up for what is right because this is the country you live in. So speak up against this because history has it's eyes on you. And it's up to you to choose which side of history you want to be on.
