Thank you everyone for signing the petition. As a child I faced similar issues of not having textbooks in Primary and Secondary school, so I know what it feels like to be socially ostracised. Not every parent is able, willing, or understanding enough to see that their children fit in at school. Maybe they fell through the cracks of financial aid, maybe they too were victims, maybe they were just plain wrong. But the solving the issues of parenting cannot be at the whims of the school, they should be handled by Family Service Centres, welfare organisations, and other adult-based bodies. The education and development of children should be the priority of the school no matter what their home situations might be. Public, citizen-tax supported schools should ensure the personal, social, and academic well-being of their students come first - that's what they have been funded by Singaporeans to do.

I therefore hope you may continue sharing this petition to your friends and families before the ministers take their holidays. I wish this matter can stay as politically neutral as possible so whichever government we get next year corrects this erroneous, longstanding, civil servant policy. And I hope we act on this soon enough so the next batch of PSLE graduates receive their certificates and move on to the next step in their lives without prejudice, shame, or blame from their own mentoring teachers - the institutions they consider a second home. Let's hit 1000 signatures tomorrow, 5000 this week, 20,000 the week after. Thank you.
