Siliguri is a very important connecting point between North East and Rest of India. 

To name a few  :

● Sikkim

● Darjeeling Hills

● Dooars

●Bhutan

Siliguri is also a very important business hub surrounded my many wings and departments of military and paramilitary forces. 

The biggest dilemma is that even after being such an important place and the 3rd largest town in West Bengal, it still struggles hard to be identified in the national sphere.

The reason is not that it lacks Railway, Road or Air Connectivity but the significance and glory resounds in the name.

The airport situated at 14 kms from city center is called Bagdogra since it is the name of that part of the outskirts.

The railways station at 3.8 kns from city center is called New Jalpaiguri, since the area's name falls so, and obviously due to some or the other political reasons.

Hence, our town of Siliguri has lost identity, mainly due to these reasons. We request the concerned authorities to take up this issue seriously and act upon it.
