IXU for Air Connectivity
IXU for Air Connectivity
Respected Sir / Madam
People of Aurangabad are really concerned about Air connectivity of IXU Airport #IXU_for_Air_Connectivity initative started regarding introduction of new services to and from Aurangabad. #IXU_for_Air_Connectivity campaign has been started that proposes to make airlines and government officials aware of providing related air connectivity services to Aurangabad.
Currently, only two Airlines are operating from Aurangbaad connecting Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad. Poor air connectivity are reducing tourist footfall in Tourism Capital of Maharashtra. There is huge demand to improve the facilities in the city so that it would give an impetus to the growth of the tourism and industry sectors.
The issues pertaining to airport including improving Domestic Air-Connectivity, introducing international flights from Aurangabad airport, introducing international cargo facility at Aurangabad Airport and expansion of Aurangabad Airport. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had announced Rs.200 crore for the expansion of the airport during the Cabinet meeting held in the city on October 4, 2016 and since then we have been regularly insisting to speed up the process, unfortunately three years after the announcement everything remains on paper only.
Aurangabad for improved air connectivity.
People of Aurangabad would like to take the initiative and request both Government and airline officials to start flights to existing (Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad) and new (Bangalore, Goa Rajasthan, Varanasi, Gaya, Kolkota, Pune, Chennai, Indore, Surat) destinations from Aurangabad.
Aurangabad being the Tourism Capital of Maharashtra & a regional Industrial hub without doubt needs better air connectivity with other such industrial and tourist destinations. With two world heritage sites, Ellora & Ajanta attracting lakhs of foreign tourists every year and giving impetus to local service industry, Air connectivity is needed to help develop not only local but also national Buddhist tourism circuit in the country.
Aurangabad is also part of the upcoming Delhi - Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and the Aurangabad node namely Shendra-Bidkin Industrial Area (AURIC) is expected to be functional soon, attracting thousands of crores of foreign investment and helping in Make in India initiative. For all this to happen air connectivity is very vital and essential.
With the closure of Jet Airways a huge disparity in demand and supply has arose affecting both tourism and industrial activity.
Poor air connectivity is reducing tourist footfalls in Tourism Capital of Maharashtra.
There is also a huge scope for air cargo service as exports of Auto ancillary and pharmaceuticals from Aurangabad to both domestic and international destinations is currently being routed by road and from other airports thus reducing the competitiveness of local industry and loss of revenue to the local airport.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had announced Rs.200 crore for the expansion of Aurangabad airport during the Cabinet meeting held in the city on October 4, 2016 and since then the people of the region have been insisting to speed up the process but unfortunately three years have passed since the announcement and things remains on paper as of today.
At a glance, Aurangabad has huge potential for improved air connectivity to different parts of India and the world. We request all Airlines and MoCA officials and other stakeholders to carry out feasibility surveys, airport facilities checks and other related procedures if any, to start new services from Aurangabad at the earliest.
Through this campaign we propose to make airlines and government officials aware of the need for improving air connectivity to & from Aurangabad to both domestic and international destinations.
