Block the sale of the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest to Chinese Oil Corporations

Recently, the Ecuadorian government and President Correa's administration announced the sale of the Amazon rainforest.
It plans to sell approximately one third of Ecuador's Amazon rainforest to Chinese oil corporations. This action will permanently destroy the natural habitat of millions of known and unknown species including plants and animals, many of which remain to be discovered. Not only will these animals and plants become extinct as their natural habitat is destroyed, but without the rainforest to soak up the rain, the world will experience more floods and droughts, which in turn will accentuate climate change on our planet.
President Correa's administration owes the Chinese $7 billion dollars in loans that they've used to help develop their weak infrastructure. But in selling the Amazon as a form of loan repayment, it is plummeting its citizens back into the cycle of poverty and effecting the future of the entire world. One only needs to look at Chevron's drilling in the Amazon back in the '90s to know the devastating medical effects that Ecuadorians suffered due to oil pollution that seeped into their rivers and streams.
Tell President Correa that the Amazon is not for sale. The Ecuadorian government’s decision to borrow beyond its capacity doesn’t mean President Correa can desecrate one of the world's most precious commodities. Tell President Correa that he does not own the Amazon and he cannot sell it to any corporation, foreign or domestic.
