Please don't close our preschool

The issue

Our Preschool community is reaching out for your support

Holy Trinity Preschool has been caring for children for well over 40 years, and provides affordable preschool education for a small but strong segment of our community.

We provide support for some of the most “at risk” children in our society who desperately need the assistance our non-profit Preschool offers.

We were confused and hurt when Holy Trinity Church Minister Richard Mason (who only arrived in 2012) and the Parish Council stated they were going to nearly double our rent for 2016.

The biggest disappointment came however last week, when they decided to simply not offer our wonderful Preschool a lease for 2016, saying we do not fit into their future vision.

This decision to force our eviction is made by a very few individuals.

Their choice will result in the unemployment of the wonderful teachers who put so much time and effort into the smallest members of our community, including our Director who has dedicated her life to the Preschool for the past 30 years.

This decision will place a significant burden on parents who have just 8 short weeks to secure alternative placements for 2016, including some in less fortunate circumstances who pay reduced fees so they can better provide for their families.

Yet most importantly, this decision will impact on our children themselves, who may be forced to prematurely separate from a safe & loving environment, driven away from their friends, their teachers, and the caring community that has been built around them over generations.

The parents and Preschool community have been told of the Parish Council’s decision, and have responded with many emails and phone calls of hurt and disbelief.

Surely it would be logical to incorporate the already existing Christian Preschool into the future vision for Holy Trinity Church?

Wouldn’t it be smarter to work together to create a better outcome for our shared community?

By signing this petition we sincerely hope that the Parish Council will show compassion, community leadership and reason by reaching out and opening a constructive conversation with the aim of safeguarding the Preschool’s future and keeping our local children where they belong.

Minister Richard Mason and the Holy Trinity Parish Council, please don’t let your short term decision destroy a whole Preschool community.
