The Green Belt serves a national function and we only have one chance to preserve it for future generations. It is a very small portion of the UK, it surrounds key towns and cities to prevent uncontrolled urban sprawl, it acts as the lungs for those areas, it homes a vast amount of wildlife habitats and eco systems, as well as containing areas of outstanding natural beauty.

Instead of selling of this national resource as first port of call, we urge the government to properly look at green field, brown field, regeneration, derelict and unoccupied areas to build upon first. Homes are needed and they must be affordable and we must avoid the Green Belt. There are other options. Green Belt is the last land that should be destroyed for planning. Think long term and consider future generations here.
