Thank you all for your support. So far, the Cemetery seems to have stepped back from immediate plans to 'mound over' Sarah's grave. However, they say it could still happen. So we need to keep going.
Let's go for 4000 supporters. If each of you could find one more, we'll be there.
The Matchgirls are part of the BBC Proms this month, Wednesday, 30th. It's a world premier of a composition by Hannah Kendall called 'The Spark Catchers'. This piece was inspired by a poem of the same name by Lemn Sissay, which is Lemn's reaction his reading about the Matchgirls Strike. Lemn's poem is engraved as permanent artwork at the Olympic Park in London, not far from the Bryant and May factory in Bow. Do look up Lemn on proletarianpoetry.com, and his video on blog.lemnsissay.com, 5thJuly 2013.
The Prom is on Radio3, 10.15pm, repeated on TV, Sept 8th BBC 4
Thanks Everyone,
Sam
