South Korean researchers found that in multi-unit apartments, such as HDB flats and condominiums, children who experienced regular secondhand smoke from other units suffered more allergic and breathing problems such as wheezing, nasal problems and skin rashes (eczema) as compared to children who did not experience secondhand smoke coming into their homes. The study ensured that children from non-smoking families were recruited to ensure that there is no confounding/confusion.
