Hello folks, This follow up covers the extensive study done in 2012-2013 and published by the Harper Government in 2015 covering how much of environmentally harmful chemicals are there in Canada and how much of it has been found in which group of Canadians and at what point it can be a matter of concern etc. It is an extensive study and is an impressive document, freely available to Canadians and is linked to Health Canada's official web site. Mysteriously, it has no mention at all of Glyphosate, the most used and controversial toxin in our food system, over our prairies, and forests and our environment. No mention at all !! So now that we have a new Government, and it is believed to be undertaking a phase of consultation with the people of Canada on issues that the previous Government may not have handled ideally, it should be for us, the same people of Canada that ushered a new Government, to bring this gross omission to light and demand that the Government engages in a serious study on how much of Glyphosate has gotten into how many of us, and have that published. There are also mentions of two items to be covered in future updates: 1) .. bout the UN convention of biodiversity preservation and within it, the cartagena protocol on biosafety, something that 170 countries have signed and ratified with only two rogue countries standing out - USA and Canada, and how this has been instrumental in devastating our biological diversity, along with food security. 2) .. a talk with India's supreme court advocate Mr. Bhushan who is representing Ms Rodrigues free of charge on her supreme court case where she has challenged the Govt. of India's efforts to release GM crops and technology that has not been independently proven safe. The case already has set precedence in the sense that no safety data can be kept from the people if the crop or the technology is to be released. It has also said that no commercial agreements on confidentiality, or intellectual property right, can be used to trump concerns of public safety. IN other words - no safety data, no product release. The advocate, in Delhi, India, has agreed to speak with me on record over the phone on this issue. Cheers Tony
