Stop Vikram Buddhi's deportation

The Issue

Vikram Buddhi, an Indian citizen, is a victim of an American criminal system that allows him to be jailed without valid indictment or fair trial and borders on racial discrimination.

In 2006, Vikram allegedly posted messages on yahoo business discussion forum advocating for killing of US president George Bush in the backdrop of Iraq war. Despite the prosecution failing to prove the charges laid against him he was still convicted. He was sentenced to 57 months imprisonment and released on May 6th, 2011 only to be picked up by immigration authorities and jailed again to face deportation.

If deported, Vikram Buddhi will never be able to clear his name of his alleged crimes, regardless of the fact that his appeal in the Seventh Circuit Court in Chicago is still pending. Vikram Buddhi – an IIT Alumnus, double PhD at Purdue University went to the US with the assumption that he would be treated with the basic dignity of a human being, however now he faces the fear of not being able to clear his name and having to live with the stigma of a convict for the rest of his life.

The Minister of External Affairs, Mr. S M Krishna gave a public statement in 2009, promising that the government will ensure that justice be met to Vikram. So let's call on him to deliver on this again. This is not just about Vikram but also a fight for the right to free speech and for the Indian government to protect it's citizens anywhere around the world.

Please sign here demanding the Minister of External Affairs S M Krishna to immediately intervene and ensure that Vikram isn't deported and has his appeal heard in order to get his name cleared.
