It is still healthy and thriving despite the polluted atmosphere of Cairo and is a unique and beautiful landmark with a 150 year history.. It provides welcome shade and sanctuary from the scorching heat of summer amidst the concrete jungle of chaos and congestion of the Cairo downtown streets.The loss of its benevolent presence would be a tragic loss for us all.
