The remaining land attached to Our Lady’s Grove primary and secondary schools in Goatstown, Dublin 14 was put up for sale and bids were due by 29th March. This latest development will have severe consequences for the schools and the surrounding area. The primary school already has no green space and the secondary school is one of the few public girls schools in an area surrounded by many well-endowed and funded girls private schools locally. The Grove afterschool that provides many services to the primary school community will also be affected. There will be significant traffic through the school from the new houses and lead to health and safety issues for the children and residents.

The Goatstown area is in need of more public services and infrastructure for the many young families in the neighbourhood. The change and intensification of use of the remaining School lands will exacerbate the pressure on schools and facilities in this area. It will also remove the possibility of future expansion of the school campus as needed to meet future requirements. We have set up a blog so the community can exchange thoughts and actions on this (http://olglandforsale.blogspot.ie/2017/04/sale-of-lands-at-our-ladys-grove.html) and a Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/OLGsaveourland/

Come to a public meeting in the function room of the Goat Bar on Tuesday September 30th at 8pm and join the discussion.

We, the undersigned, request that these lands move to public hands.
