My Dear Supporters,
I've made up and sent today a brief letter to the Minister and major Canadian mass media. I've sent it to the National Gallery management as well. Together with ipetitions we're counting 728 supporters. Hopefully they will hear us and return with a solution that will allow us not to sacrifice Chagall's painting.
Thanks again for your support!
I'll keep you posted on our progress.

It's been 2 weeks since this transaction was revealed and there are already 14 days during which the Canadian public is trying to reach the Museum and Federal "management" to get a feedback and resolution for this absolutely unacceptable desaccessioning and sale of the nationwide treasure at a commercial auction in another country.
There is a lot of publications in Canada and worldwide showing that art professionals and journalists, let alone the public are shocked and puzzled,
and somebody should pay attention to the fact that :
- there is a lot of people and especially art and museum professionals who are against this decision made by NGC in a non-democratic way, that
- no national museum can desaccesion art objects without a force majeure situation, that
- NGC management did not find a way to fund raise to keep both painting where they belong and restore David's painting, that
- nobody knows how much NGC will pay to Christie's as commissions, that
- all the mantras about "healthy market" and "Chagall will be sold in any case, either or not David is bought out by Quebec museums or not"
look at least suspicious and at most deserve a deep investigation to find out who will benefit from the Chagall's sale in reality?
- are NGC and the Canadian Heritage Office aware of the Rockefeller Estate auction sale on May 9-10 in New York with 900+ pieces of art (19-20th centuries) with the initial estimate of USD 500,000 ? Right before the date when Chagall's painting is scheduled to be sold. This is wrong timing to sell anything especially a national asset.
Dear Minister and Canadian Mass Media,
We believe that it is still not late to revoke Marc Chagall's painting "La Tour de Eiffle" from the Christie's Auction House, New York,
bring it home from Hong Kong and wait till July for the Quebec provincial museum officials to find a way to keep David's painting in Quebec and loan it to NGC if required.
Only after that NGC may come out with the revised proposal and ideas what has to be done to keep or acquire whatever they need for the collectio without
desaccessioning existing masterpieces.
Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter and immediate decision to help us to keep "La Tour de Eiffel" in Canada as part of our museum and national culture.
