A NEW Canadian research study with the McMaster University Midwifery Research Centre has launched on Lyme Disease and pregnancy and maternal-fetal (mother to baby) transmission of Lyme disease. LymeHope is delighted to collaborate and partner with the research team which values and prioritizes patient engagement and we are thankful for the leadership and expertise of the primary investigator, Dr. Elizabeth Darling.
So far, this study has over 420 participants and this number continues to grow as this study is shared!
Study participation is open to residents of Canada, the United States or globally.
The study has two phases which include a detailed online survey and an opportunity to those impacted by Lyme to register and participate in online focus groups. Researchers will be comparing the health of people who have been diagnosed or suspected Lyme disease during pregnancy and their offspring to people who have not – therefore any person with a pregnancy (past or current) is encouraged and welcome to participate!

Get Involved: Participate and Share
Please participate in the online survey – if you are or have been pregnant – regardless of the pregnancy(ies) outcome (i.e. stillbirth, miscarriage or termination). You don’t have to have been diagnosed with Lyme to participate. For those who have been diagnosed with Lyme or suspected Lyme during pregnancy, they will be asked questions about their research priorities and also invited to participate in an online focus group to discuss future research priorities and willingness to participate in further Lyme disease research.
Please share the survey link on your social media sites to help us share the message and attract more survey participants. The more survey responses the more important data can be collected. The research team is hoping to have responses to this survey by the end of December, 2020.
We are so thankful for each and every organization, support group and person who has taken the time to participate, contribute and share this important research opportunity with others – all this information is so valuable and this first-of-its-kind research gives Voice to each contributor.
