STOP QLD Car Registration Late Renewal Fee Rip Off

STOP QLD Car Registration Late Renewal Fee Rip Off
The issue
Did you know if you pay your Car Registration 1 day late you get charged a Renewal Registration Reinstatement Fee (RRRF) which adds up to a whole months registration?
1 day late - Lose 1 Month !!!!
This fee generates MILLIONS for the Queensland Government.
Registration is a pro-rata payment. Stop ripping off tax payers by stinging them over 1 months registration for being 1 day late.
Queensland Government reaps millions from late car registration, insurance penalty fee.
ONE in six Queensland motorists fail to pay their rego on time, with the State Government raking in almost $2.4 million a month in late payment fees.
Queensland Transport figures show the Government collected more than $14.6 million in overdue fees in the past six months from more than 280,000 drivers.
RACQ and welfare groups say the figures show Queensland households are under financial stress and struggling to pay their bills.
RACQ spokesman Paul Turner said it was unfair for Queensland motorists who were already paying the highest rego in the country to be slugged with the "double whammy" of late fees.
Queensland Council of Social Service president Karyn Walsh said car registration was one of the biggest single bills for families and sometimes they were forced to pay late to cover other urgent costs.
