The issue

Under current Law it is almost impossible for people to obtain a Disability Support Pension using the current eligibility tables that were brought into effect in 2012. At this very moment All people who are currently on DPS are under review. My story. I live with a condition called Arthrogrophosis Multiplex Congenita, I have no muscle development from my hips down, my bone are crooked and fragile, I can not walk without aides and use a wheelchair . It's not my style to sook and my life is generally awesome! BUT since my leaving work "quickly". I of course don't get paid so I went to Centrelink to see if I am illegible for a Disability Pension. I have had DPS on and off through my life. My goal always has been to work but at times I am unable to because of my condition. So I went to Centrelink to reapply for DPS! And short answer is NO! I am not longer eligible. I meet over and above the 20 points required to show I have a severe impairment BUT because I have pushed through it all my life and basically supported my self I have proved that I am capable of work ie I have a job capability greater than my physical impairment table. So even though I am disabled I am not in the eyes of Centrelink. So basically my work ethic and strength of character and mind to achieve has been my downfall in that I have proved I am "normal" and thus must be! I have to laugh really and have a small sense of pride through my despair. So basically my efforts to achieve have shot me in the foot proverbially in the long term!
