Release Trapped Kangaroos at Cape Schanck

The issue

There is an urgent and imminent issue unfolding where a large mob of  kangaroos, estimated to be 200 in number (est. 10% of the entire population on the Mornington Peninsula), have been trapped on a  property near Cape Schank, having no access back to their roaming grounds called “Greens Bush”.

We believe they have been entering this property to feed for some time through a broken fence line and that the fence line is now closed. There is no shelter, the animals are highly stressed. In previous years permits to shoot the kangaroos have been issued and its highly likely this mob of 200 kangaroos will suffer the same fate.

This petition is urging the minister to urgently intervene. To save this mob of kangaroos by (i) withdrawing any permits to cull and (ii) directing the safe release back to the adjacent park lands.
