BSNL! Deliver Us Justice. We Demand Better Service

The Issue

Dear Friends,

This is a petition to Shri. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Honourable Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Shri Anupam Srivastava, CMD BSNL. The petition demands improvement to the quality of service provided by BSNL.

I have been suffering from serious issues with the use of my BSNL mobile connection. There are frequent call drops, lack of mobile signals and slower downloads. In most cases, the loading of simple pages also takes ages. Filing a complaint and getting it resolved has gone beyond imagination, as complaints are never rectified. The case is not different with any other BSNL product- Landline, Broadband, EVDO.

Earlier, when I was in Chennai, I lodged a complaint about the issue of poor network coverage in Public Grievances Portal (pgportal.gov.in) and I had the BSNL employees visiting me the very next day. However, even after months, the issue wasn’t rectified. They were literally begging me to close the complaint, to which I did not yield. The complaint was closed later, citing that I wasn't residing at the place anymore.

I want an end to this issue and I seek the immediate intervention of the Union Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Shri. Ravi Shankar Prasad. The Minister who promised a revival of BSNL should focus on these issues faced by BSNL customers and deliver us justice. So, I request immediate attention to the following:-

1. Request for new broadband and landline connection to be processed within a week
2. Complaints to be rectified within 2 days
3. Improved web portal for complaint registration with
     (a) Description of the corrective measures adopted
     (b) Customer’s approval to close the complaint
     (c) An option for the consumer to forward the complaints to higher authorities
4. IVRS option for complaint registration with
     (a) Description of the corrective measures adopted
     (b) Customer’s approval to close the complaint
     (c) An option for the consumer to forward the complaints to higher authorities
5. Shortage of equipments, nano and mirco simcards
6. Provide assured speed for broadband and mobile connections
     (a) Upgrade the existing copper cable network to optic fiber cables
7. Stop sending bills to landlines connections unless the issues are rectified
8. Rollback the increase in landline call charges (1/1.2 Rs for 3 minutes) and frequent increments in landline rents
9. Address issues related
     (a) Call drops
     (b) Lack of coverage
     (c) Coverage issues during power breakdowns
10. Simplified procedure to activate international roaming in prepaid connections
11. Immediate launch of 4G services


The petition aims at improving the service standards of BSNL, which will be a boon to the citizens of India. The petition also aims at changing the way the Public sector functions in India.
