Friends of Snowden:
Thank you for gathering at City Hall last night. City Council commented on your presence in the meeting. They were heartened by your demonstrated interest in what happens out in our forests and surrounding area. Council received the report from their staff on Snowden and have requested a meeting with BC Timber Sales and Recreation Sites and Trails BC in order to clarify what is planned regarding the proposed harvesting and to find out how Recs and Trails plan to "manage" the recreation features in Snowden in the areas where logging and roadbuilding are proposed. I have been asked to make a presentation at that meeting as well.
With Squamish, the North Shore, and Whistler generating tens of millions of dollars of visitor spending from mountain biking tourists each year, I am firmly convinced that the highest value for Snowden's Core Area is to leave the trees standing. We just need to unlock its full potential for businesses and residents alike. Please do anything that you can to help convince Council and/or your fellow citizens to sign the petition, to spread the word, and to stand up for Snowden. Thank you.
