Dear friend
As you know the largest Mechanical Extraction of Kelp ever allowed in Ireland is about to kick off in Bantry Bay - and will cause untold damage to the environment, the seal population, fishing industry and tourism. The licence was issued without an Environmental Impact Assessment - nor were the West Cork communities affected properly consulted.
But, there’s still time to stop this. Eoghan Murphy, the new Minister responsible for planning and local government has to give the final go ahead to the company to start harvesting. Uplift members across Ireland are rowing in to help with the campaign which is great news.
If we speak out now - we can convince him to stall the final decision until the full impact of industrial scale mechanical kelp harvesting is properly assessed - and the community properly consulted. He is new to the job and probably has no idea about what’s going on - which is why he needs to hear from us. Can you send him an email now? : http://tinyurl.com/yb2txm4r
Thanks
John
