Ban puppy farms across NSW

The issue

Puppy farms are a cruel and inhuman environment where so many young puppies are sadly being bred and sold. It has come to my attention that NSW and QLD are the only two states in Australia that still allow the use of puppy farms and this is not acceptable.

These puppies are subject to so many acts of cruelty, such as:

- Extreme confinement: this means that some of these animals are never allowed out of their cages to play and socialise or even to go to the toilet

- They are not given the correct type of health care and often end up with serious, long-term health problems or behavioural issues.

- Unhygienic living conditions which comes from the confinement and severe overcrowding

- Extreme abuse and neglect

There are many more examples of the brutality faced at these puppy farms which is why we need to work towards banning them from this country.

Once a puppy is bred, they can often be sold to pet shops which means that unknowing buyers are purchasing dogs with underlying health problems or behavioural issue as well as inadvertently supporting the use of puppy farms. Sometimes these buyers are also paying for dogs that often aren’t even the breed listed on the window.

It astounds me that in 2021, we are still allowing something so brutal to continue to these innocent creatures. NSW it’s time to act!
