Minimize Overpopulation of Stray Animals by Implementing Free Neuter/Spay Programs
The Issue
According to a study by Abdulkarim, et al. published in 2021, Stray animal overpopulation has multiple negative impacts on the community, environment, and public health, making it one of the most significant global concerns. The population of stray animals grows as a result of their uncontrolled reproduction, which increases the likelihood of predation, car accidents, the spread of zoonotic diseases, and the animals' eventual transformation into disease vectors. Depending on the situation and the type of stray animals, there are several strategies for reducing the number of strays. Among them are the use of contraception, trap-neuter-return, poisoning, euthanasia, and gunfire. As a result, the creator wants to start a petition advocating for the implementation of free neuter/spay programs to reduce the number of stray animals.
Problem: Due to the uncontrollable populations of stray animals, the environment can be badly impacted by issues like road feces, car crashes, attacks from other animals and harsh people, and even starvation and climate change deaths.
Solutions: The goal of this petition is to reduce the overpopulation by requesting to implement a free neuter/spay program for stray animals in Cavite. Not just stray animals but also indoor pets should be neutered or spayed because it has a lot of positive effects on them.
Benefits: A few benefits of spaying/neutering the animals are: (1.) It can help your pets to live longer; (2.) When your pet cat is in heat, she won't get out of the house and wander the neighborhood; (3.) Your cat or dog will be a better pet if you neuter them since it will lessen their desire to roam and reduce their chance of getting wounded or receiving infections when they do so; (4.) They will rarely catch any diseases. Aside from that, the owner won't have to worry about the kittens or pups their pet has given birth to because it will be managed when they have their pets fixed. The community will gain from this petition as well because it can reduce the number of stray animals and will also reduce the harm of the animals.
