The Mental Health crisis, exacerbated by the pandemic, necessitates a paradigm shift in public education. We are advocating for a Tier One (all students inclusive) approach with an emphasis on prevention through compulsory and comprehensive curriculum. This differs from existing educational systems which primarily focus on intervention through exterior, voluntary measures in acute situations. Mental Health Education will serve as the equivalent to Physical Education: accessible and mandatory for all students with a focus on both principle and practice in developing and maintaining a healthy mental state. It is imperative that Mental Health Literacy be cultivated within students from a young age, as it will equip them with the knowledge and skills to successfully navigate their future endeavors in an increasingly tumultuous political and social climate.   

As we are piloting curriculum on a local level, we are also working on a state level to expand this work across California. We are currently pitching our drafted bill to Senators and Assemblymembers to be included in their 2024 Bill Package. Please sign this petition in support of our advocacy.
