Last chance to email support to city committee!
We have until 1:30 p.m. today to let the Milwaukee Common Council's Public Safety and Health Committee know we support the mask ordinance!
With a proposed ordinance now submitted, the public can comment! But the committee meeting is today, and comments have to be received by 1:30 p.m. There is also a companion resolution that will provide free masks at residents' request.
Changes from the first draft:
- Citizens will be required to wear a mask outdoors when they are within 6 feet of someone who is not a family member or member of their household, not 30 feet.
- The age of persons required to wear a mask is increased from 2 years old to 3 years old.
THERE'S STILL TIME TO SEND YOUR SUPPORT TO THE COMMITTEE BY 1:30 P.M TODAY.
1. Go to the the city’s legislative commenting system (this is a different comment link than last week).
2. If you haven't before, click on SIGN UP and enter your name, email address and create a password. It will ask you to validate your account. Do this and you will be ready to go back to the page and vote.
3. Please click on SUPPORT. And feel free to submit a comment.
It takes 5 minutes!!
The committee meeting takes place at 2:30 p.m. today. It will be aired on the City of Milwaukee's City Channel and on our local cable networks' government channels.
We'll report back on the committee's actions and the next steps we can take to win full adoption by the Common Council and mayor.
