Draft Milwaukee mask mandate introduced at Common Council!

Our initiative is gaining ground -- Milwaukee Ald. Marina Dimitrijevic has introduced a draft ordinance that would require the wearing of face covers in public places!

The draft was the first step, with modifications currently being discussed with other alderpersons, Mayor Tom Barrett and the city attorney. We expect a committee vote as early as this week and full council vote as early next week, although the process may take longer.

A number of updates to share with you below. But the most important is still to contact your alderperson if you live in the City of Milwaukee. You can do that via this website.

Da updates...

1. Here's a news article analyzing the draft ordinance, with links to the document.

2. As the article notes, Dimitrijevic is proposing that the city buy and give away 150,000 masks to low-income people and raise funds for an additional 150,000, so everyone will be able to comply with the ordinance.

3. A local business owner is offering to donate materials for 1 million disposable masks for the city to distribute to low-income residents if the ordinance is approved. Here's a TV interview with the owner.

4. Speaking of media, The Milwaukee Business Journal posted a non-scientific "poll" asking readers whether they support or oppose a mask ordinance. Want to vote? Click here.

Thanks again for your support!
