Termination of Milwaukee Public School Staff Member

Termination of Milwaukee Public School Staff Member
The Issue
Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) serves the most Black and African students in the state. Although, seventy percent of the teachers in the district, are white. Students and staff of color have been fighting a long uphill battle for years in the school system, with racial inequity at the forefront.
In wake of the Jacob Blake shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin, which is 45 minutes south of Milwaukee, the school district released a statement allegedly in support of the Black and Brown community, against police brutality. However, a staff at Rufus King Middle School, William C. Walker (Clint Walker), has made comments that directly contradicts what the school system has claimed to support. The comments made support the vicious murder committed by white supremacist, Kyle Rittenhouse. The comments made are dehumanizing and a direct attack on the lives of the youth he is entrusted to serve daily.
Milwaukee Public Schools has released a statement expressing the removal of William C. Walker from his post. While it is acknowledged as one step in the right direction, it does not equate to his termination. We are demanding for the termination of William C. Walker to completely sever his access to the system we entrust to educate, empower, and enhance our youth. It is imperative that we satisfy the needs, and the top priority of the entire community- our youth's safety. This is step one. We are asking the community to stand by us, and with our youth of color, to help enact a process of change that will serve as a stepping stone that will truly leave our community safer, and overall MPS Proud.
