By now, you may have heard news that a bunch of tourists decided to change our city flag after another tourist made fun of our flag during a TED talk. During this time, Milwaukee somehow became fashionable to tourists and because of this, said tourists needed a rebel flag to stake their claim of Milwaukee in an attempt to feel cultured and show other tourists they were here before them.

Long story short: contests were held by tourists and voted on by tourists. A winner was chosen and the new rebel flag immediately became a symbol of pop-up gift shops, expensive art degrees, sterile design, and luxury condos.

The city realized "hey, maybe it's not a great idea to adopt a flag designed and pushed though by a private collective" so they shot it down in multiple forms, multiple times, but in the spirit of true privilege, The People's Flag of Milwaukee has been there to throw a public tantrum each and every time. There's a LOT of tourist money at stake.

The city then says "hey, maybe we should actually design and vote on a new flag because most of you chaunceys haven't even been to the north side" (the new streetcar doesn't go that far) but that wasn't good enough for The People's Flag of Milwaukee, so they decided to start a Change.org petition to prove that what they say better be the voice of Milwaukee.

So as a citizen of Milwaukee, born and raised, I'm starting this petition to tell The People's Flag of Milwaukee to SHUT THE FUCK UP. Your flag does not represent us. Your flag does not represent Milwaukee. Your flag is nothing more than an exercise in marketing.
