Million Men - Standing Against Femicide and GBV

Million Men - Standing Against Femicide and GBV
The Issue
The purpose of this petition is to mobilize all South African men from different walks of life, to be volunteers against any forms of violence, especially against women and child abuse.
South African Men kill, on average, 8 women a day. Statistics SA reported more than 40 000 rapes in the past year (2019) alone. Women are afraid to walk alone at night because of men who target them for sexual assault. All these numbers show that there is clearly a problem in this country yet there is no man who knows a rapist, an abuser or a murderer.
We have mothers, we have sisters and daughters and yet we still have a problem like this. Are we, as men, supposed to only act when tragedy happens in our own homes? The time to speak up and act is right now - in fact the time to speak up and act was when it all began.
As much as speaking and acting can have an impact, it is also important for us (men) to educate ourselves and our peers about how to conduct ourselves with women or people who are not of the same gender.
Gender based violence and violence against children are not unsolvable problems. You can make a difference with this petition. Sign this petition and be counted in as a man of action and the defender of the vulnerable and make this country a better place for all.
