Reduce Tuition Costs for Courses Moved Online

Reduce Tuition Costs for Courses Moved Online
Why this petition matters

In an attempt to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Millersville University of Pennsylvania has implemented a series of alterations to the upcoming Fall semester. One of these alterations has been the replacement of many in-person classes with online-only versions. This means classes which would typically be taught face-to-face will now be conducted 100% virtually.
It is certainly in the best interest of the students and faculty that as many classes as possible be taught online. However, there is no reason that the cost of those classes that have moved online should remain the same as if they were taught in person.
Many students feel that online instruction is inferior to in-person instruction. The value and quality of virtual classes is much lower, and the cost of those classes should reflect that loss of quality. We are demanding that credit costs for classes moved to an online format be reduced by half for the Fall semester.
Many students are still without a job and are struggling just to pay rent or buy groceries. We desperately need economic relief and the burden of large tuition costs is now more stressful than ever. Failure to reduce tuition costs will harm the learning potential of students and result in a severe drop in retention rates, especially for incoming Freshmen.
Please do the right thing and reduce the cost of these online courses. Both students and the university will benefit from you doing so.
