Don't force Ring Mountain Day School out of its campus.
Don't force Ring Mountain Day School out of its campus.
The Issue
If the Mill Valley School District moves forward with a plan to take over the school's campus for its own administrative purposes, RMDS could be forced to shut down. The school's uncertain future will cause current and future enrollment figures to severely suffer and nearly one hundred families will be faced with this sudden and unforeseen disruption on their children's education.
RMDS entered into the existing lease agreement after it was given the sense that the lease would be extended beyond the initial ten year term. That's why the school invested hundreds of thousands of dollars to improve the interior and exterior space for the benefit of the students.
There must be room for compromise and we ask the Mill Valley School Board to consider all options before taking a drastic action that could close our school for good. RMDS is a close-knit community of parents, faculty and administrators that operates as a good community partner and provides consistent economic benefits to Mill Valley by bringing outside residents in on a daily basis.
Not only could the District's plan close our school and further limit progressive education options in Mill Valley, but it would also cause more Bay Area teachers and administrators to lose their jobs in a very difficult economy.
The effects of the School Board's decision will have very real consequences within our community.
Please find a compromise and do not force RMDS out!
