On Saturday August 15th, 23 year old Antonio Scott and some friends went hiking in Washington at Mount Rainier National Park near Emmons Glacier. After hiking in the 90 degree weather, they came across an unnamed glacier lake and decided to go swimming. After about 10 minutes of swimming, Antonio got fatigued and started cramping and most likely went into shock causing him to drown. His friends tried to save him but he went underwater and did not resurface. Police and a rescue team searched for him Sunday with no luck. On Monday, with the help of one of the friends, they were able to locate his body within minutes. The rescue team respectfully draped his body with an American flag and brought him to shore.

The group of guys that were with Antonio that day decided they want to start a petition to name the (no named) lake “Antonio lake” in his honor. He was a specialist in the 42nd Military Police Brigade at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and a traffic management collision investigator in the 51st Military Police Detachment, according to JBLM officials. He enlisted in the Army in January 2017. Scott had been at JBLM since his graduation from Military Police One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He is a Mobile, AL native.

It would mean the world to his family and friends to have this done in his honor. Antonio was a hardworking, outgoing, free spirited person who loved the outdoors, his friends, family and the USA.
