The Issue

Dear Directors and Management of the CODI Group,

For nearly a decade, a specific patch of the Pont-Y-Pandy Woodlands in Caerphilly has been left neglected, suffering from severe ecological decline. We are writing to you today with a solution that will halt this damage and bring life back to this land.

We are asking the CODI Group to formally transfer the ownership of your portion of the woodland to our organisation, Lunacare Cymru.

Despite years of neglect in the area, community-led re-wilding trials conducted in 2020 yielded exceptional results. This initiative served as a powerful proof of concept, demonstrating that practical, localised action can successfully restore ecosystems and native habitats—from the soil up to the oak canopies—when given the opportunity.

Building on that momentum, a coalition of local volunteers, environmental advocates, and creators is prepared to launch a comprehensive second phase of re-wilding focused strictly on your partition of the woodland.

By signing this land over to us, you will empower our team to:

Immediately halt the ongoing ecological damage and neglect on this site.
Establish an official on-site research and regeneration base dedicated to long-term climate solutions.
Conduct practical habitat restoration and community-supported re-wilding that benefits the whole region.
To maximise the impact of this restoration, our work will be documented as a professional multimedia series, highlighting how Welsh organisations and community groups are proactively responding to modern climate challenges through tangible, grassroots action. The CODI Group has a unique opportunity here to facilitate a major environmental win for South Wales and be the catalyst for this positive change.

The community has clearly demonstrated its passion for restoring the Pont-Y-Pandy Woodlands. The Lunacare Cymru team stands ready to complete the work and deliver a sustainable, nature-rich asset for the public. We just need the land to make it happen.

Please listen to the voices of the community signing below, and transfer ownership of this woodland partition so the vital work of re-wilding can begin.

Keep rising,

MikeyDruid Lunacare Cymru: Environmental Research & Re-Wilding And the undersigned supporters
