Bring Back All Star Team Up 2K22 Next Gen
The Issue
As many of us know, the developers of NBA 2K22 have removed a popular game mode named "All Star Team Up" on next-gen consoles. This was most likely done due to the game mode not generating any profit by making players buy virtual currency. On NBA 2K21 next-gen, 2K removed public all star team up, but there was private all star team up. This game mode was so bugged that 70% of the time you'd launch the game mode with 10 people, it would kick one person out, and then you'd have to restart the whole lobby until everybody could load in and play. Now, they have removed both game modes, as they intend to kill the game mode because they want everybody to buy virtual currency for MyCareer or MyTeam. Not everybody wants to create their own player. There are so many of us that want to play with the all time legends we watched, or are currently watching, and the best game mode to do that was removed.
My first 2K was 2K17, I played play now online for the first week, until I wondered more to the right of the main menu and saw an online game mode called "All Star Team Up". I had no idea what it was, but I pressed on it, and I was the 10th person and it loaded in right there. I was the last player to select my player as it was my first time. Once I played my first game, that was it. There was no other game mode that I played. 90% of the time I would load in by myself as it was convenient. This lasted up until 2K18. On 2K19 is where we saw the slow killing of All Star Team Up. For the first few days or so, public All Star Team Up was removed from the menu. With many people requesting it back, 2K eventually decided to add it back, but with a caveat. You would have to invite one other person with you to start the game mode. This made it much less convenient as you had to make sure there was someone online to play with you. It made lobbies harder to get as those people who were solo players from 2k17 and 2k18 never made it over to 2k19 lobbies, or rarely every participated in games due to this requirement. It also killed late night lobbies in the early AM. On 2k17 and 18, the requirement was 6 people to start a game, and you could get at least 6 at any time. On 2K19, the requirement was changed to 8 which made it more difficult to get games. 2K19's version of All Star Team Up translated right over to 2K20, with there being 8 players needed to start the game, but with launching the game mode with another friend. 2K19 also added a useless game mode called "Player Control". There was no need for this game mode when there was All Star Team Up. Currently on 2K22 PS5, Player Control is a completely dead game mode (on west coast servers), as you can't even find another person searching for a game with you. On the east coast servers, you can get a game, but it's very hard to do so.
On the launch of 2K22, many took to Twitter and mentioned 2K employees such as Ronnie Singh, and Mike Wang, to address the issue of All Star Team Up being removed. However, this was not the case for current gen 2K22, which has both public and private All Star Team Up. We are only a few days into 2K22 (as of publishing this petition), and no developer has responded to the countless number of tweets mentioning the removal of this game mode. Even high profile Youtubers have tweeted about it. We all know they see it, but they choose to do nothing about it because they know eventually people will stop mentioning them as most individuals who play 2K know that the developers of the game are in fact incompetent. There are currently no competitors to slap some sense into the developers of 2K, and the employees who are supposed to be actively engaged with the community to get feedback to improve the game simply ignore them after the first two months of launch.
Our request: Bring back public and private All Star Team Up, make it so solo players can join the lobby just like 2K17 and 2K18, and make the requirement 6 players to start the game. There are so many people who buy 2K for this one game mode, and you've removed it. I spent $90 + tax on this game just for one game mode, so bring it back.
