My brother SPC Jodie Henderson Jr. was brutally beaten, murdered, and left on the street in South Bend, Indiana, January 16 2016 because he was gay. Jodie served honorably for 9 years in the U. S. Army and he was still active military personal, until he was murdered. He did a tour in Afghanistan in 2012 and he came back home to the United States of America where he was suppose to be free to speak, live, and do as he pleased as long as its legal. Jodie was a gay male that just wanted to live his life. Yet an Indiana resident, that SPC Jodie Henderson put his life on the line for, brutally took his life because he was gay, www.wsbt.com Jodie Henderson. There are many GLBTQ people who live in Arkansas, Georgia, South Carolina, Wyoming and INDIANA that fear this exact thing, being GLBTQ, Black, White, different in any way, and there are no laws to protect them. It is time Indiana had HATE CRIME LAWS. Indiana is one of 5 states that has not taken the position that hate crime is unacceptable, and should be addresses as such. There is no acceptable crime, however to take a life based on likes and dis-likes is inhumanity of the lowest sort. Regardless of personal views, if all are equal under the law, all have the right to LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness or no one has the right. Governor Pence it is time for Indiana to step up and pass hate crime laws. My family and I are begging and pleading with everyone to help us let the un-united state of Indiana that we want equal protection under the law for all. The world over this hatred needs to stop, people doing this horrible thing needs to know that there will be consequences for their actions.
