August brings so much movement energy that we can’t wait to share with you. Join MADP and partner organizations for a variety of events occurring this month online and in person in support of Marcellus Williams and others living under death sentences in Missouri! 

  • August 16th - 6PM CST - Webinar In honor of the Feast of St. Maximilian, Catholic Mobilizing Network, MADP, and the Missouri Catholic Conference will cohost ‘The Catholic Call to End Missouri’s Death Penalty’. Register here!
  • August 20th - 1pm-7pm - 8th Annual Saint Louis African American Arts Festival and Bazar Crown Square Plaza (Old North St. Louis Historic District) 14th & St. Louis Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63106 - MADP will be tabling and celebrating the rich history and culture of people of African descent.   • August 24th - 7PM CST - Zoom - Black August  Register Here: www.bit.ly/MADP-BlackAugust Commemorate the fallen freedom fighters of the Black Liberation Movement, call for the release of political prisoners in the United States, condemn the oppressive conditions of U.S. prisons, and emphasize the continued importance of the Black Liberation struggle.
  • August 29th - 7PM CST - Missouri Department of Corrections Virtual Town Hall Register here:  www.bit.ly/MODOCTownhall2022 Panelists include members of our incarcerated community, Norman Brown, Keri Blakinger, and more. Keri is a Texas-based journalist and the author of the Corrections in Ink, a memoir tracing her path from figure skating to heroin addiction to prison and, finally, to life as an investigative reporter covering mass incarceration. The event is co-sponsored by Liberation Lit, Roderick and Solange MacArthur Justice Center, Missouri Justice Coalition, Missouri Prison Reform, Missouri State Conference of the NAACP, and Missourians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty.
