The Issue

As GMCS School Superintendent , Mike Hyatt  has continually exhibited that he does not have the best interest of the community , the  GMCS  school staff and more importantly,  the students that are 78.95% Native American.

The district has a history of threats and retaliatory actions towards  staff that point out dangers , discrepancies and concerns that directly affect students .

The high turnover of qualified teachers in the GMCS district is a direct result of  the mismanagement of the school district with Mike Hyatt at the helm .This affects ALL STUDENTS , and impedes the quality of education , and  a steady and consistent student/ teacher teaching relationship in a district in dire need of teachers . The school district will then blame  school staff , rather than address issues and valid concerns or take any accountability for their own failures .

In addition , school board meetings are held at 1pm on Mondays , therefore making it nearly impossible for working parents and working members of the community to attend , hold the school board or school district accountable , or voice their concerns . Furthermore, they dont allow public comments at School board meetings , and The comments on You Tube of the board meetings are off , which further silences the voices and concerns of the community at large .

Where is the  oversight or accountability from the school  board  ?

Is anyone holding Mike Hyatt accountable for his failures as superintendent  of GMCS ?

The children ,  parents , staff and community as a whole of GMCS district deserve better .

The attached articles are an example  of the most recent no confidence in Mike Hyatt * This is public record *

The following are  excerpts from recent articles on Mike Hyatt's alleged ethical misgivings . Read attached  articles for further content .

“Superintendent Hyatt’s conduct after he was denied employment … shows that he is potentially abusing his authority, and not acting in the public interest,” the ethics complaint states. “He was aware of the alleged student-teacher ratios and the licensure issues prior to submitting his application for employment with the Contractor. He also served as a positive reference for the Contractor with the New Mexico PED [Public Education Department] on February 6, 2025 and for Ohio as recently as February 25, 2025, despite knowledge of the concerns he later raised in the letter to the Contractor on April 1, 2025."

The ethics complaint letter alleges that Hyatt potentially violated the New Mexico Government Conduct Act (GCA) and state procurement code. “The GCA has specific prohibitions against a public officer or employee seeking employment with a contractor who has a contract with the public officer or employee’s employer,” according to the complaint. “The Procurement Code similarly prohibits an employee who is participating directly or indirectly in the procurement process to become, or to be, while such an employee, the employee of any person or business contracting with the governmental body by whom the employee is employed.”

Hyatts response ;

“Out of desperation they are attempting to deflect the harm they have done […] and are trying to create a narrative that I by myself am trying to break a contract for personal reasons,” Hyatt wrote in his email to the news organization. “Nothing could be further from the truth.”

Anyone who tries to hold GMCS accountable is blamed for a "narrative" or a "hit piece" . More gaslighting and deflecting from Mike Hyatt, as is becoming a clear pattern.

He could have waited for  Strides contract to end in June 2025. But he would rather disrupt the remote learning students and parents by trying to cancel the contact with only a couple of months left before the school year ends ?

Makes ZERO sense and the math isn't adding up.

Mike Hyatt and the whole school board  , who  continue to  gaslight , deflect , stonewall and pass blame ,  have now met with an ethics  complaint  from Stride Inc .They claim they broke this company's contract because they were "unethical " , yet did business with them for close to  4 1/2 years , and then Mike Hyatt applied for a job with   this supposed  "unethical " company .

He was subsequently denied the  job he applied for with  Stride, Inc.  and lost out on  the $235,000 per year salary he was asking for from this "unethical" company.

Do we really trust the school board that doesn't hold their employees accountable ?  Can you trust the  education of the students of GMCS to this person ?

Who is holding Mike Hyatt accountable?

Mike Hyatt had  one foot out the door of the district , all  while pretending to care about its employees and  most important of all , its STUDENTS .

GMCS NEEDS A SUPERINTENDENT THAT PUTS THE NEEDS OF THE STUDENTS , GMCS STAFF AND COMMUNITY ABOVE HIS OWN SELF-INTERESTS !

He should be fine tuning the district to provide a safe and maximum educational environment for the  STUDENTS  so they could succeed .

MIKE HYATT NEEDS TO GO !

**************5/20/2025 UPDATE **********************

The School Board meeting on FRIDAY MAY 16th , was disrupted by members of the community and parents calling out  the school board members  with outbursts and vocal questions .

The school board denied time for any comments or questions from the public .

All the questions and comments that WERE vocalized  from the audience were REMOVED AND HEAVILY EDITED from  the video of this meeting that was posted by GMCS on YouTube .

What are they afraid of ?

Once again GMCS - shutting  the community out , deflecting , censoring , and skirting accountability.
