S.T.S.O.
The Issue
S.T.S.O is an organization we created, to help Save The Sea Otters. Our end goal is to make it illegal to harm and kill Sea Otters in the U.S. Alaska is then main state where the harm is happening, so it is our top priority to at least make it illegal there.
As of today, July 11, 2021, the number of Sea Otters left in the world is around 3,000. Of that number of Sea Otters remaining, around 80 of them are being held in captivity.
Sea Otters death and harm are caused by: fur trade, fishing/ fishing nets, decorations, oil spills, hunters, captivity, habitats being destroyed and disrupted, and shark attacks.
Sea Otters serve a significant purpose in our ocean
Some ways you can help, and change things are: Reduce, reuse, and recycle whatever you can.
Use less water. (Take shorter showers, don’t run water when brushing teeth, use a rain barrel, and put more Landry in one load.)
Use you own bags at grocery stores instead of using the plastic bags,
and don’t litter!
Cut down on pollution.
Ride bikes, skate boards, and scooters to travel shorter distances.
Fun Facts about Sea Otters:
They can grow up to four feet.
Females can weigh up to 50 pounds.
And males weigh up to 70 pounds.
Please sign up, and share! Thank you!
